Ojai Art Center Theatre

Longest continually running community theater in California producing seven full-length quality plays, musicals, and a children production each year.

The Season's Productions:

May 4—May 27: Bakersfield Mist — Based on a true story, this raucous comedy/drama shows what happens when a “boozy, trailer park broad” finds what could be a Jackson Pollock at a flea market, then clashes with a snooty art appraiser. Laugh out loud funny, but also asks the question “what makes art art?" Directed by Susan Kelejian.

June 22—July 15: 33 Variations — Drama, comedy, memory and music combine to take you from present-day New York to 19th century Austria in this extraordinary play about passion, parenthood and life transformations. Beethoven is a character in the play and during the presentation a pianist will play excerpts from his ‘33 Variations.’ Directed by Richard Camp.

September 7—October 7: Man of La Mancha — This 50-year-old musical still resonates today, contrasting captivity versus freedom; love versus violence; and hope versus death. Director Marty Babayco and star Scott White promise to take audiences through the madness that mirrors the reality of the present, leaving us to “try, when our arms are too weary, to reach the unreachable star!

November 23—December 16: Cinderella — In the style of an outrageous English parody, this musical is “fast, funny, witty and completely captivates the children from start to finish.” “An intelligent and playful production of a brilliant new musical that had an opening night family audience roaring with laughter.”
